All Angels Classic Cuvée 2015 – it’s not just us!
I was recently reminded that when I tried the 2015 before we released it a broad grin came over my face as I knew we had nailed that vintage and had an outright winner in our cellars. But then, wine is subjective and – as we tell people on our tours & tastings – what appeals to one person may not appeal to another: the fun of just producing single vintage wines, eh?
So there was still a nervousness when we released it in October 2022, even though Kay said she would be happy to drink it with breakfast, lunch and dinner. There were some great reviews at that time, some saying it was setting a new benchmark and others that is was transformational for English wine.
Now I’m pretty cynical about awards so we didn’t have entering the wine in competitions on the agenda. We were however persuaded to enter it in Drinks Business Global Sparkling Masters Awards 2023 – Drinks Business is one of the wine industry’s leading trade publications and the competition is open to all sparkling wines worldwide. We umm’d and ahh’d about entering it in the WineGB Awards 2023 and only did so at the very last minute. And we entered it into the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships 2023 at the specific recommendation of one of the judges.
We were absolutely delighted to find out that the judges like it too:
- Gold at Drinks Business Global Sparkling Masters Awards 2023
- Gold at WineGB Awards 2023
- Best Regional Wine for the whole of the Thames & Chilterns area (we didn’t even know we’d been entered for this)
The Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships 2023 results aren’t out till September but we’re delighted with our current 100% (or even 150%) Gold / Best in Class strike rate!
